the pin belonged to Jack (Arthur) Gant, who was a member of the Michigan Central Railroad Employees Band. Jack was born in 1887 and lived at 4 Oliver St., St. Thomas. He played the euphonium in both the MCR Band and the Salvation Army Band. He worked for the Michigan Central as a boiler maker's helper. He was taught by his brother how to play the euphonium. He died in 1984 in his mid 90s. His parents were George and Martha Gant. His wife was Alice (nee Lazenby. His daughter Edna married George McAteer.
